Obituary

Jerry Wayne Hutson, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on June 28, 2026.

Jerry was born on January 21, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, to Marion Francis Hutson and Wydell Parker Hutson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carolyn Rodgers Hutson; his daughter, Michelle Hutson Franklin and her husband, Ray Franklin; his grandchildren, Nikki Copeland and her husband, Brennan Copeland, and Stephen Franklin; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Cora Copeland and Bellamy Copeland. He is also survived by his sister, Scherry Garza, and his cousin, Doug Chavers, who was like a brother to him. Jerry additionally leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Marion Francis Hutson and Wydell Parker Hutson; his sister, Norma Rodgers; his nephew, Adam Rodgers; and many other loving family members.

Jerry was a man of many talents and passions. He had a deep love for restoring classic automobiles and spent countless hours bringing old cars back to life. In his earlier years, he crafted beautiful driftwood tables, worked in ornamental iron, built furniture, and operated his own yard business. He found joy in working with his hands and creating things that would last for generations.

Beyond his craftsmanship, Jerry loved playing the guitar, collecting firearms, and attending dog shows with his wife beloved dog, High Range Tess. He treasured the friendships and memories made through those experiences and took great pride in sharing that passion with those around him.

Jerry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, creativity, unwavering devotion to his family, and his willingness to help others. The lessons he taught, the things he built, and the love he gave will continue to live on through the generations that follow him.

A private family viewing will be held on July 2, 2026, at Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home in Dallas. A memorial service for all family and friends who wish to celebrate Jerry's life will be announced at a later date.

Jerry's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the memories he created, and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
