Obituary

Jo Ann (Estes) Woods, of Plano, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, at the age of 90.

Born in Vernon, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. Dee Estes, Jo Ann graduated from Vernon High School, attended Texas Tech University, and later earned her master's degree from the University of North Texas. While working at a television station in Wichita Falls, she met Homer Lee Huddleston. They married in 1956, raised two children, and built their life together in the Dallas area for nearly 30 years. Homer passed away in 1998.

In 1996, Jo Ann married the love of her life, Bob Woods, and they enjoyed 28 happy years together in Plano before his passing in 2024.

Jo Ann was known for her kind heart, generosity, and humor. She cared deeply for her cats and many homeless animals, gladly prepared homemade treats for family and friends, and loved finding great sales for her family. She also enjoyed traveling and sharing laughter with those she loved.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her younger brother, Bill Estes. She is survived by her older brother, James Dee Estes (Phylis) and younger brother, John Estes (Mary), both of Arlington; her daughter, Lee Ann (Rich) Gater of Carrollton; son, Mark Huddleston of Plano; stepdaughter, Robin Woods Bennison (Mike) of Plano; and stepson, Don Woods (Debbie) of San Clemente, California.

She is also survived by her granddaughters, Nikki Carradine Stuart and Shelby Carradine Becker (David); step-grandchildren, Sierra Carradine Sosa, Robert and Max Bennison, and Spencer, Tanza, Makena, and Sydnee Woods and great Grandchildren Avery and Connor Stuart; as well as many nieces and nephews, and her cherished "bonus sons," Bobby Stuart and Clark Carradine.

Jo Ann will be remembered for her warmth, quick wit, and boundless love for her family and friends.
