Joe Byron Pennington beloved husband of Janet Pennington entered heaven on February 5, 2026, after a battle of dementia. Joe was 81.

Joe will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence and the love he shared with family and friends. He was a devoted husband to Janet, and their life together reflected a true partnership and love.

Joe had a passion for cars and trucks and began his career at the age of 19 at Friendly Chevrolet. Joe attended North Texas State now known as University of North Texas. He joined Merrill Buick GM in Denton to continue to pursue his career in car sales. Joe started acquiring real estate and that venture became very successful and he retired from corporation at the young age of 39.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Janet, along with stepson Toby Shelton and grandson Dylan Shelton, his brother and wife Steve and Janell Pennington, niece and husband Jessica and James Witcher and 3 daughters London, Harper and Scarlett, nephew and wife Lance and Melissa Ogletree and 2 daughters Ainsley and Kallie. He is also survived by Sister-in-law Kelly Gunn, niece Amanda Gunn and nephew Tod Gunn.

Joe was proceeded in death by his parents Byron Ervice and Harriett Pennington, His son David Pennington, and his son Joe, Jr Pennington and their mother Linda Pennington and we cannot forget our fur baby Scooter.

There will be a private Celebration of Life.
