Joel Crowe
January 10, 1970 – January 11, 2026
Joel Crowe, beloved husband, father, son, friend, artist, and teacher, passed away on January 11, 2026, at the age of 56. Born in Rome, Georgia, to Linda and Tommy Crowe, Joel lived a life rooted in creativity, faith, and deep devotion to those he loved.
Joel earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design, where his passion for painting and drawing flourished. Art was not only his profession but his language, one through which he connected with others and expressed his quiet strength and thoughtful spirit. He exhibited his work in numerous shows, including with the long-standing collective Artists & the Truck, a group formed nearly 30 years ago through shared work, creativity, and friendship that grew into a brotherhood lasting a lifetime.
Professionally, Joel spent 15 years as a graphic designer at St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Later, he followed a calling to education, becoming an art teacher at Horn High School in Mesquite ISD. For over three years, he taught 2D and AP Art, inspiring students not only with technical skill but with patience, encouragement, and genuine care.
Joel lived with a steadfast faith, placing his trust in God's guidance and drawing strength from daily devotion. A favorite passage that sustained him came from Isaiah 40:29–31:
"He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
- Isaiah 40:29-31
He is survived by his beloved wife, Yvette Crowe, and his cherished children, Matthew and Sarah Crowe. Joel was a devoted husband and an unwavering, loving father whose presence shaped his family's lives in profound ways. His love, kindness, and gentle strength will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Though his time was far too short, Joel leaves behind a lasting legacy, found in the art he created, the lessons he taught, the friendships he nurtured, and the love he gave.
