Johnnie (John) Michael Betty (Williams) was born on June 10, 1944, in Henderson Texas to the parents of Kenneth Betty and Icy Orice Williams Betty. John was raised by his grandmother Williams in Henderson Texas. He attended Laneville High School and later moved to Dallas Texas to make a better life for himself. He married his first wife, Shirley Betty on September 3, 1963. John and Shirley had 3 children, Johnnie Michael Betty II, who died July 1966 (3) days after delivery and 2 daughter's, Sheila Jean Lucchetti, and Shannon Jo Moneymaker-Bartek. John and Shirley lived in Farmer's Branch and later moved to Plano Texas. John later opened a successful insurance agency. John and Shirley divorced in 1978 and he later met Carol Ann Wassell Betty. During the 50 years selling insurance and his 14 years as a firefighter and paramedic, he made many friends, most of whom he considered extended family. John and Carol married on December 20, 1980, Carol had a son, Kerry Talbot. John raised Kerry as his own along with Sheila and Shannon. John retired from the insurance business in late 2019. John passed on April 19, 2023. John was the most kind-hearted, gentle, caring, and generous man. He could always make you laugh with a joke or a story from his past. John was a friend to so many and a father figure to many more.
When John was not working, he loved to play golf, his favorite past time, with his buddies, his daughter, other family, as well as local and distant tournaments. He enjoyed his bible study classes at Hunter's Glen Baptist Church, traveling, especially to Las Vegas, boating with friends, his high school reunions in Laneville, Texas, and visiting with friends and family.
John was proceeded in death by his parents Kenneth Betty, Icy Orice Williams Betty, his sister Kathryn Carter Betty, his sons, Johnnie Michael Betty II and Kerry Talbot, his wife of 37 years, Carol Ann Wassell Betty, and lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandmother, and many close longtime friends.
John is survived by his very close friend and ex-wife Shirley Betty, his children and their spouses, Sheila husband Robert Lucchetti, Shannon Moneymaker Bartek husband Brian Bartek, their children, Dominick wife Shannon, Paige, Marissa, Jason, and Jordyn; his great-grandchildren, Marissa, Melanie, Bradly, Leila, Athena and Nathan; his brothers and spouses, Robert (Rob) wife Sue Betty, Larry wife Sheri Betty, their families; His step brothers and sisters, Ellen Guymon, Don Merrell, and Judy Snyder and their families; his Aunt Louette Williams Johnson of Henderson Texas, who was like a sister to him; Buddy Wassell, his brother in-law, his niece Kristi Anderson Price, his brother and sister in law, Kay Wassell Jackson and Don Jackson. Other loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
John led an exceptional, fun, and fulfilling life. He was kind and generous and unselfishly gave of himself to his friends, family, clients, co-workers and really anyone who needed him. John will be profoundly missed, and he leaves us with so many cherished memories.

Memorial Services for Mr. Johnnie (John) Michael Betty, age 78, of Plano, Texas will be held at Hope Fellowship Church on June 2, 2023, located at 9950 Rolater Road, Frisco TX 75035 beginning at 1p immediately followed by a celebration of life with lite food and drinks. Family and Friends far and near are welcome to attend to share their memories!
