Joy Darlene Morris
Reagan
Jan 21, 1925 — Feb 27, 2025
Joy Darlene Morris Reagan passed away at Presbyterian Hospital Dallas on Thursday February 27, 2025. She was 100. She was born on January 21, 1925 to Jeter and Lucille Morris in Dallas.
She leaves behind son Jim Reagan, Jr. and daughter June Ann Armstrong, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Jim Reagan, Sr. in 2019 and daughter Jody Reagan in 1999.
Joy graduated from North Dallas High School and in 1947 she met her husband to be, Jim, on a blind date and they were married in 1948. They celebrated their 70th anniversary in February 2018 with family and friends.
In the early 1950s, Joy and Jim became lifelong members of St. John's Episcopal Church in Dallas, raising their family there and making many great friends. Joy thoroughly enjoyed life. She loved to cook and was great at it; playing bridge with friends; attending SMU basketball and football games with Jim and friends; and she also loved local pro sports especially the Dallas Cowboys. Even when her eyesight was failing, she continued to listen to her teams when they played on television.
Mawmaw, as she was known to her family, was happy, well-spoken and full of life. Even when she was in long term care and bedridden for the last 4 years she still kept up with what was happening in the world and even voted in the last Presidential election! She talked with her daughter and son EVERY day….often about the affairs of the world, but also about football. She always had funny sayings and loved telling jokes. She loved music, especially Ray Charles, Tina Turner and Michael McDonald. She loved reading and listened to audio novels almost every day. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She celebrated her 100th birthday on January 21st with close family and a huge birthday cake. She loved her husband, she loved her family, she loved her church, she loved her friends, she loved sweets and she loved life!
She was a loving wife and the best mom anyone could ever want. She is with the Lord now and she will be greatly missed, but the memories will always remain. "He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds" Psalm 147:3.
A private memorial service for immediate family will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church.
