Joyce Elwanda Hutson was born on November 5, 1931, to Eugene Milton Prather and Jessie Gay Ruff. The Prather family eventually included five children, Troy, Stanley, Elwanda, Joe Doyl and Yvonne. She is preceded in death by all.

This family moved from Mobeetie to Kress in 1941. She graduated from Kress High School in 1949. She married Jearld L. Hutson in November of the same year, just four days short of her 18th birthday. After living in Ralls and Lubbock this new family group eventually settled in Richardson, Texas.

Four Children were born to Joyce and Jerry Hutson: Jimmy Dale, Travonna Joan, Charles Eugene and Randal Glen. To help pay for lumber needed to build them a home on Newberry, she worked the night shift at Texas Instruments in1959. 1960 and part of 1961. Jerry Hutson worked there on the day shift, so the children always had one parent or the other to depend on. Those were exhausting days of working full-time plus building a house after hours and weekends. Hutson's went into business starting up Hutson Industries, so Joyce quit her job at Texas Instruments to help soon after.

On and off for years she was personnel, then onto the actual production of the electronic parts Hutson Industries manufactured. She faithfully worked alongside her husband and four children till Jerry's death in 2016. The business closed shortly thereafter.

Life changed after Jerry's passing for the family as they headed into the retirement years. Time held a second, sudden surprise when Travonna Joan left this life from cancer only five months after diagnosis, in the Spring of 2013.

Joyce Elwanda Hutson lived and loved a full life. Her witness to her Savior was steady and quiet. Hers was never a flashy presentation. She lived her faith day by day. As an employee, once said Mrs. Hutson "Lights up" at the mention of the Lord's name. It was obvious where her heart was. The Lord and her family were her great treasures. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
