Obituary

Michael Thomas Kelly, 54, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. A 1979 graduate of Alvin High School and a 1983 graduate of the University of Texas, Mike was a member of the football team and the ATO fraternity. As a part of his family business, he owned Cobblestone Shoe Repair in Dallas & Ft. Worth. He was forever a loyal UT fan, bleeding burnt orange and white. Mike was a member of the Dallas Running Club, an avid biker, outdoor enthusiast. Mike played on several men's fast-pitch baseball teams, completed the Houston Marathon, and biked the "Hotter than Hell" 100 mile bike ride. Mike loved spending time with his family in Cozumel, Mexico. He had a passion for scuba diving and a desire to travel the world. Above all, Mike loved his wife, Bobette, and his two children, Derek and Natalie. He was always sure to let any stranger know how proud he was of them. Mike will be remembered by his unmatched work ethic, his passion for competition, and most of all, his love for Jesus Christ and his family. Mike is preceded in death by his father, Carroll Kelly of Freer, TX. Mike is survived by his wife, Bobette Kelly; one son, Derek Kelly; one daughter, Natalie Kelly; his mother, Diane Mehaffey (Will Mehaffey); two brothers, Carroll Kelly (Melissa Kelly) and Steve Kelly (Shelly Kelly); one sister, Kelly Henderson (Darren Henderson); and nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be on Friday August 28, 2015 at 2:30 at Watermark Church, Dallas Campus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Watermark Ministries, or the American Heart Association.
