Obituary for Richard Powell Kennedy, Jr.

11/26/51 - 12/16/13 Richard Powell Kennedy, Jr. was born November 26, 1951 in Houston, TX as the only child of Marguerite Evelyn Briley Kennedy & Richard Powell Kennedy. He was promoted into the Kingdom of God in Heaven on December 16, 2013 at 62 years of age. A memorial service was held in McKinney, Texas on Friday, December 20 for those in that local area. An additional memorial service will be held Saturday, December 28 at 10:30 a.m. at New Song Harvest Center, 7045 State Hwy 75 South in Huntsville, Texas. He lived in Houston during the majority of his childhood with the exception of the time spent with his mother in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He completed his high school education at Reagan High School, and moved to Huntsville, TX where he attended Sam Houston State University. He took a break from SHSU to attend and graduate from Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1980. He graduated from SHSU in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. His Professional Achievements included serving as a Correctional Officer with TDCJ, a Drug Rehabilitation Counselor in Texas Prisons, Security Field Supervisor for American Protective Services, and Probation Officer with Collin County for 10 years. Richard was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel on January 1, 2012 at Faith Fellowship Church in McKinney, TX. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Marie Miller-Kennedy of 4 years, his daughter, Maygen Marie Bates born in 1989., his step-daughter, Anne Marie Miller-Fuller and husband, Chad, his step-son, Sgt. Christopher Clements Miller, USMC, his step-grandchildren, Grace Marie and Samuel Gage Fuller, his uncle "Cotton" Lucas, and his cousins: David Lucas and wife, Beverly, Glenda Herron, Beverly Miller and husband, Dennis, and many second cousins. He was a very gracious, humble, and compassionate man who loved Jesus with all his heart. He is gloriously worshiping at the feet of our Lord experiencing his life-long desire in the Kingdom of God and will be greatly missed by those of us on earth.
