Greggory Ross Kilmer, 56, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at his home in Euless, TX. He was born January 23, 1958 in El Paso, TX. Greg graduated from Eastwood High School in 1976, and attended Texas Tech University.
Greg played football in high school and college, and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He worked in the steel industry and spent the last 20 years in the film industry as a Special Effects Technician, Foreman, and Fabricator. A few of the movies and shows he worked on were: The Alamo, Walker Texas Ranger, Prison Break, Good Guys, and most recently From Dusk Till Dawn. Greg had a passion for his work, and when he wasn't working he gained enjoyment from being outdoors, fishing, golfing, taking care of his lawn, and playing pool volleyball with friends. He was very appropriately named, as his sense of humor and personality can easily be described as gregarious.
Everyone who knew Greg would describe him as a kind man who would give the shirt off of his back to a stranger in need. He was an animal lover and his dogs, Lucy and Cooper, held a special place in his heart.
Greg is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Crye (Brandon); grandchildren, Madi Crye, Meagan Crye, Ashton Crye; step-father, Jerry Bear; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark Kilmer (Cindy), Lonnie Bear (Arthi); sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosanne Orona (George), Lynn Hamilton, Jennifer Kilmer (Stefan), Leslie Turner (Darrell); 12 nieces and nephews; and a multitude of close friends. Greg was preceded in death by his mother Cecil Bear and his father George Kilmer.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, September 27th, 2014 at The Big Apple Caf at 14200 Trinity Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas 76115 from 11:00 to 1:00. Greg has requested his family scatter his remains over a lake. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to The Big Apple's Christmas with the Kids with Mission Arlington. This was a cause dear to Greg's heart every year, and he would want us to continue supporting this in his name.
