Emory Milton LaBrot, 95, of Dallas passed away on September 16, 2013. Emory was a long time resident of Little Rock. While stationed in Camp Robinson during WWII, he met his wife of 68 years, Margaret Durbin. Margaret preceded Emory in death by only two weeks. During his military career he was stationed as a Sergeant during the bombing of Dutch Harbor in Alaska. His platoon built the airstrip in the Aleutian Islands for American planes to land during the war. After the war he settled in Little Rock and was owner of LaBrot Sewing and Vacuum stores for 50 years. Emory was a member of many men's clubs in the community, including the Little Rock Business Men's Club and was elected Business Man of the Year. Emory was a founding member of Christ the King Catholic Church and was very active as a Fourth Degree Knight's of Columbus. He loved fishing, gardening and many outdoor activities. He was always considered a true gentleman and everyone who knew him loved him for his kindness and generosity. He is survived by his daughter Glenda, and her husband Michael Blankenship of Dallas. He has grandchildren Heather Abbott of Dallas and Shayne Blankenship and his wife Amy of Houston. Emory has six great grandchildren. He has a very dear niece Mary K Ruble and her husband Scott of Maryland. He has three beloved sisters, Maxine Poston and Dorothy Straughn of Missouri and Virginia Ellis of Indiana, as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed as a Christian and a patriot.
