Obituary

Lani Duffill Mango, age 66, passed away on March 16th, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. She was born on December 24, 1956 in LaGrange, Illinois to Jack and Mikey Duffill. Lani, or Honey as she was affectionally referred to by her family, grew up in Morristown, NJ and studied Education at Northwestern University. She was most proud of teaching 4th grade at Las Colinas Elementary in Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD where she helped open the school in 1986 and taught until she retired in 2013. Education was her passion and during her tenure she helped LCE win the National Blue Ribbon in 1993 and 1994, attending the ceremony in Washington to accept the honor on behalf of the school. She also led the math team to win the district math competition multiple years including a 5-year consecutive winning streak. She was married to Mike Mango for 39 years (in May) and loved her three children Philip, Melissa and Marci Mango during that time. Lani lived a full life, often enjoying reading countless novels, cheering on the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and playing games like Euchre, Bunco and Pokeno with her friends. Lani is survived by her husband Mike, her children Philip (Jennifer), Melissa, Marci, grandchildren Reilly, Emma and Halle, mother Mikey Gray Duffill, sister Sheri (Norman) Mellides, brother Bill (Peg) Duffill and many other loving family members. Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, March 25th at 1pm at the T. Boone Pickens Faith Presbyterian Hospice at 12477 Merit Drive, Dallas TX.
