Larry Dee"
Taylor
Aug 4, 1943 — Feb 6, 2025
Larry Dee Taylor, 81, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, at home in Plano, Texas, with wife Yu-Lin and son Brion by his side.
Larry was born on August 4, 1943, in Ogden, Utah. He was the eldest son to Emery and Helen Taylor.
Larry held a master's degree in Geology. He served as a marine during the Vietnam War. After honorable discharge, he worked in various air force bases in the US and around the world. He received an award signed by Present Jimmy Carter for his service and contribution to the country.
Larry met Yu-Lin Chen while she was visiting her friend in the summer of 1992 in Ohio and married her the following year on January 16. The wedding ceremony was held in Taiwan.
Larry traveled to many places in world, including Germany, Italy, France, China, Japan, Taiwan, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Costa Rica, Peru and Brazil. He enjoyed reading, especially books written by Tom Clancy, James Rollins, Anne Rice, Brad Thor, Andy McDermott, Steve Berry, Raymond Khoury and many more.
After retirement, Larry pursued his dream of owning a gift shop and named it TayChen Enterprises. His inspiration for the store name was the combination of two last names, Taylor and Chen. His realization of the dream started as a booth in an indoor flea market in 1996. He expanded the business and moved it to Collin Creek Mall in 2000 where he worked until 2017.
The quiet and mellow Larry is survived by wife Yu-Lin, three sons, Erick, Michael and Brion, from his prior marriage, stepdaughter Celia, and granddaughter Tylah.
