Obituary

We are mourning the loss of our beloved Russell, who passed away August 12, 2019 with his family and beloved beagles by his side after a ten year battle with prostate cancer. Russell was born in Mill Creek, OK and attended high school in Mangum, OK. He proudly although reluctantly served in the Navy during the height of the Viet Nam conflict and upon his return Russell played football for the Navy. After an honorable discharge, he attended OU and graduated with a degree in Economics. He enjoyed a lengthy and successful career in medical sales, taking part in the advent of several technological breakthroughs: intra-ocular lens implants which changed people's lives through cataract surgery, and endoscopic/laparoscopic instruments that utilized fiber optics to revolutionize surgical procedure. If you spent time with Russell, you were entertained by his dry wit and sense of humor. This served him well through many debilitating treatments and setbacks. In his final weeks we enjoyed many visits from friends old and new, reminiscing and catching up, laughing and crying then laughing some more. He was well loved by so many. Russell is survived by his loving and heartbroken family, Kathy - wife of 32 years, and daughter Elizabeth Kate (Katie), sister Paula and brother-in-law Fred Rosenbaum, grand niece and nephew Laura and Gabriel, Aunt Johnnie Dowell, cousins Jim, Rhonda and Kent and their families.

A memorial celebration will take place on Saturday, August 31 from 11-1 at the home of Cynthia Camp, 10907 Pinocchio Dr, Dallas, TX 75229. At a later date the family will scatter ashes in New Orleans and San Francisco. We will honor him with a military service at Santa Fe National Cemetery, his final resting place. Memorials may be made to DFW Beagle Buddies, at dfwbeaglebuddies.org. Russell enjoyed many years of joyful companionship with our rescues Simone (Monie Mo) and Nellie Belle.
