Obituary

Linda Harriet (Haire) Crone

November 3, 1939 – January 31, 2026

Linda Harriet Crone, 86, of Dallas, Texas, passed away

peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Linda was born in Savannah, Georgia, and often

spoke fondly of her childhood days spent at Tybee

Beach. As a teenager, she moved to California, where

she met John Eugene Crone in San Jose. They were

married on January 30, 1960, beginning a lifelong

partnership marked by faith, service, and devotion.

Throughout her life, Linda lived in many places, including San Bernardino, California, and later

McKinney, Texas. Alongside her husband, she faithfully served with Cru and the Josh McDowell

Ministry (now known as Sightline), where their work together extended far beyond logistics. Linda

and John helped build deep, lasting international relationships that continue to allow Josh and

Sightline's work to be translated and shared across the globe—impacting countless lives for Christ.

Her life reflected the quiet strength and enduring influence of faithful partnership in ministry.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Eugene Crone; her children, Scot Anthony

Crone, Douglas Alexander Crone, and Kimberly Dawn Crone; and her parents, Louis William Haire and

Grace (Lewis) Haire.

She was an active and cherished member of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas, where she

participated in the Agape Sunday School Class and sang in the Sanctuary Choir.

Linda was well known among friends and neighbors for her warmth and hospitality, especially her

annual Christmas Open House - a treasured tradition. With the help of her son Scot, she baked

hundreds of cookies, welcoming many into her home with generosity and joy. She also delighted in

word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, often working on them alongside friends.

While her passing brings sorrow, it also carries a quiet sense of rest. Linda outlived her husband and

all three of her children, bearing profound loss with remarkable faith and perseverance. Yet she was

not defined by loss—she was marked by gratitude.

One of the clearest reflections of her heart is captured in a legacy video centered on a truth Linda

lived daily: when something is taken from us, we are often faced with a choice—bitterness over what

was lost, or gratitude for the gift of what was given.

Linda chose gratitude.

Her story is beautifully reflected in the legacy video The Gift of Giving Thanks: Linda Crone

Though Linda had no immediate family remaining, she was deeply cherished by dear friends and by

this community. Please keep Becky, Peter, Kim Sandlin, and all who loved Linda in your prayers in the

days ahead.

As we receive this news together, may we hold space for both grief and gratitude—giving thanks for a

life faithfully lived and a race well run.
