Obituary

Stephen Mathew Liptoi, of Richardson, Texas passed away on Sunday July 13th 2014 on his 53rd birthday. Stephen was born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1961. He was the middle child of Mathew & Hazel Liptoi also of Richardson, TX who survive him. Stephen's sister, Christine Liptoi Streiff of Allen, TX, brother Bryan Liptoi and wife Kim of Plano, TX and former brother-in-law, Bob Streiff also survive and will miss him greatly. Stephen is also survived by his nieces and nephews Cory Streiff of Celina, Tyler Streiff of San Antonio, Shannon Streiff of Dallas, Macie Liptoi of Abilene, and Morgan Liptoi of Plano, TX. He loved them immensely and they likewise lovingly nicknamed him their Uncle Peavy. While Stephen or "Steve" as he was known to many of his friends and colleagues never married, he had many people he deemed as "family." A lifelong resident of Richardson he touched many in his 50+ years. Stephen attended St. Paul's Catholic School in Richardson initially, and then Richardson ISD, where he established many strong friendships that lasted his entire life graduating from JJ Pearce HS in 1979. Steve loved the music and the restaurant industry. A graduate of the Art Institute of Dallas, one of his dreams was to be a music producer, but ultimately his love of people and his social nature won over and he gravitated to the restaurant industry becoming a manager at many Olive Garden locations in the Plano, Frisco, McKinney and Garland area. Stephen's career began with the support of longtime friend, Leonard Karolczak who guided him early with the necessary tools to ultimately become a manager. It was his 12 years as a manager with Olive Garden where Stephen found his calling and felt fulfilled by being able to be with people and serve as their compassionate friend, mentor, "uncle" and overall great guy. He served alongside Brad Gilbow in management for many years and his Olive Garden family served the role of a traditional "wife and kids". This is something that the rest of his family grew to understand was his priority and focus. Stephen was a selfless individual that gave his all to everyone without question. We will miss his presence and more over his smile and laughter. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 18, 2014 at Custer Road United Methodist Church located at 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75023, 972-618-3450.
