Obituary

After a difficult and courageous battle with lung cancer, our Holy Father called Lydia Gonzalez-Gonzales home to his kingdom. She passed away Wednesday morning on April 26, 2023. She was 81 years young. Lydia's inner strength and faith in Jesus Christ, her Redeemer, assisted Lydia when life challenged her spirit the hardest. Born on June 11, 1941, she was the only daughter born to Bartola Alardin Gonzalez and Enrique Gonzalez Sr. Lydia was the middle child, having two older brothers and two younger brothers. Lydia was born in Dallas, Texas in an area known as 'Little Mexico' on Pearl Street. She adored her parents and had a very happy childhood. Lydia often stated, 'her parents gave her everything'; she was wonderfully spoiled. She attended St. Ann Parochial school for her elementary and high school education. At age 13, she would meet the love of her life, Robert (Bobby) Gonzales. They would date for several years and married in February 1963. Their first daughter (Dominique) was born 1963, with a second daughter (Yvette) following in February of 1965. Lydia entered the banking sector in the late 1960s starting at American Bank and eventually moving to North Texas Bank. She began working in the mortgage field, becoming a manager for Loomis in the 90s. Lydia retired as a mortgage analyst for Traveler's Insurance in August 2004. One of Lydia's greatest dreams came true in July 2003 when she became a grandmother for the first time, her grandson (Jude) was born. In August 2004, the Lord blessed her again with granddaughter (Sidney). Lydia always put her family first. Her home was her castle. She was a woman of great pride, intelligence, faith, and love. She thoroughly enjoyed reading, dancing, decorating her home and spending time with her husband and family. She was Bobby's rock; Dominique's treasure; Yvette's champion; and Jude & Sidney's favorite hugger. 'Our hearts will miss you Mother until we are reunited.' Lydia is survived by her daughter (Dominique G. Gonzales-Taylor), son-in-law (Russell D. Taylor); daughter (Monica Yvette Disbrow), son-in-law (Russ Disbrow); grandson (Jude O. McKee); granddaughter (Sidney J. McKee); brother (Ernest Gonzalez) and brother (Louis Gonzalez). She is also survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Lydia is preceded in death by her brothers Aldolph Gonzalez and Henry Gonzalez Jr.
