Barbara Louise Magar was born in Houston, Texas, March 28, 1945. She was a graduate of Richardson High School in Richardson, Texas; received a Bachelor's Degree from North Texas State University and a Masters Degree from East Texas State University. She was a multi-school elementary librarian in Houston from 1967 to 1972. She was the Librarian at Skyview Elementary School, Richardson ISD from 1972 to 2002 where she established a chapter of the National Beta Club. She was an animal lover and owned dogs most of her life. She adopted a rescued dog and rescued a momma cat and kittens along the way. She was preceded in death by her parents Billy and Dorothy Magar and a brother, Jack Magar. She is survived by a brother David (Elizabeth) Magar, nieces Kate (Bryon) Magar Freeman, and Sarah (Kevin) Magar Kite and great nephews Mason, Ethan and Atticus; and by her close friend Linda Roberson and her daughters. Barbara was Godmother to Mariellen Roberson Speaker, Kristin Roberson Gainer and Kay Roberson Eidson. Her life was enriched by her many other close friends. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 2, at 11AM at the Smith Cemetery just west of Palmer, Texas.
