Billy Jay Maples, Jr was born September 13, 1957 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Billy Jay, Sr. and Ludie Marie Maples. His parents preceded him in death. He attended Ponca City Sr. High School and graduated from Langston University in 1979. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. In 1982, Billy was united in holy matrimony with Vivian Lorraine Bonner and they were endowed with two children. Billy was employed by Classic Buick GMC of Carrollton. He began his career as a radio sales executive for WKY Radio in Oklahoma City, OK. He served as a local sales manager for KOCO ABC 5 in Oklahoma City; general sales manager KTHV CBS in Little Rock, AR; general sales manager for WNOL WB in New Orleans. LA; vice president and general manager of Raycom Media's KXRM FOX and KXTU UPN Stations in Colorado Springs, CO; vice president and station manager KTXA UPN 21 and KTVT CBS 11 in Dallas, TX; and vice president and general manager of KAUT UPN 43 in Oklahoma City, OK. He attended St. Johns Baptist Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Later he united with Friendship Baptist Church in The Colony, Texas. He departed this life on Thursday, April 2, 2015. To cherish his memory he leaves his devoted wife, Vivian of the home in Plano; son, Elliott Maples (Robin) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Darien Maples of Plano, Texas; and one granddaughter; two sisters, Linda Burton (Max) of Houston, Texas and Toni Wolfe (Nate) of Kenosha, Wisconsin; one brother, Russell Maples (Kay) of Edmond, Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at ARIA Memorial Chapel. EXTRA PARKING: Overflow parking is located at Lowes parking lot just east of Toyotas parking lot. Toyota of Plano has a towing policy and will not allow any parking for funerals in their parking areas. Management at Lowes, however, offers their condolences and welcomes any overflow to their parking area.
