Peggy Pope was born on May 25, 1948 in Ann Arbor Michigan to Laurel Jones Markman and Alan Mouns Markman. She is survived by her husband Phil Pope, daughters Myra Sharp and Debra Pope Scally; granddaughter Makenzie Blakey and grandson Daniel Blakey. She is also survived by her sisters that are twins Barby Markman Geisler, Judy Markman Dean, and brother John David Markman. She lived in Knoxville, TN and the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. After she graduated from high school, she lived in Bangkok Thailand with her parents and younger brother John while her father taught people how to teach English. From there she moved to Fort Worth, TX to attend Texas Christian University. While attending TCU she went to a Pizza Hut with a friend and met Phil who was working there. They married, and eventually moved to Garland, TX. In Garland, TX she quickly became involved in New World United Methodist Church. Peggy was a member of New World United Methodist Women, worked as a Preschool teacher for a number of years, taught Sunday School and worked with the youth group with Phil. She worked a variety of jobs after she stayed home with her two girls. Peggy was a Girl Scout leader for a while and liked teaching the girls life skills and camping. She thoroughly enjoyed going on women's retreats. She ended her career with the Garland Education System as an instructional aide in May of 2016. Peggy always had a smile on her face and would make you feel welcome and at home. She enjoyed taking pictures and scrap booking, as well as gardening and traveling to visit friends and family. She especially loved animals and visiting zoos. There was never a time that there were not pets inside or outside the home. Peggy Pope loved the Lord and learning more about the Bible and living a Christian life and will be greatly missed!
