Marguerite Elaine Bock (nee Tomany)
Born: September 2, 1942
At Peace: January 31, 2024
Margie lived a long, happy life full of love. She was preceded in death by her parents Grace Marie (Tully) and Clayton Arthur Tomany Sr., her brother Clayton "Sonny" Tomany, and former husband John David Bock (widow Mickey Bock).
The daughter of a mechanic and piano teacher, Margie loved to play the piano and discuss antique cars. Margie was given three guidelines to a good life from her Dad; what's closest to nature is best, cleanliness is next to godliness and always be a lady. Despite her petite stature, Margie's determination knew no bounds. Her vibrant personality carried the essence of a beautiful bird gracefully flitting amidst a lovely bunch of wildflowers.
Margie was married to John David Bock (October 6thof 1962 until June 23rd of 1972) and she prayed for a red-haired boy and girl. God blessed Margie with two gingers, John Clayton and Heather Ann. Devoted to her role as a single mother, Margie instilled in her children values of confidence, kindness, and the pursuit of their dreams along with a love all of God's creatures, especially cats and dogs.
Among the family's most cherished memories was the achievement of moving into their own home in New Lenox, made possible through the owner completion program at New Lenox Lumber & Hardware. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter, where countless treasured moments were shared. Margie was a great cook. Home cooked meals included her standing rib roast, Yorkshire pudding with gravy, and school barbecue. Following these delicious meals, the family would gather to enjoy beloved detective shows like Columbo and Murder She Wrote.
Margie is survived by her daughter and best friend Heather Ann (Michael) Huffman, son John Clayton (Loretta) Bock and their children Samantha (Devin) Haymond-Bock, Cecilia Ann Bock, and John Thomas Bock. In 2021, Margie celebrated a great grandson John Benjamin Bock (John Thomas and Nadia). Margie also leaves a sister Cathy Wolff, brother William (Bill) Tomany, loving sister-in-law Judy Valek, godson Peter Valek, Aunt Joan Tomany and many nieces and nephews. Private services will be held for the family February 16th and 17th.
