Obituary

Mark Edward Lewis, of Plano, Texas entered the arms of his Savior on June 15, 2023. He was born June 28, 1956, to Eunice Lydia (Tietjen) and Guy Wayne Lewis in Stuttgart, Germany. At six years of age, his family moved from Germany to Arkansas, and thus began his love affair with the state of Arkansas and the Arkansas Razorbacks. Several years were then spent living at Camp Capers in Comfort, Texas, with his parents and five siblings. After graduation from Thomas Edison High School in San Antonio, Texas, he worked as a painter's apprentice, later delving into the craft of home construction and remodeling. Leah and Mark met at The University of North Texas in Denton, and it was love at first sight. At the age of 31, Mark enlisted as a Seaman Recruit in the US Navy. Working with computers provided options for a more lucrative and creative line of work for Mark as a technical Systems Engineer. Mark married Leah Susan Rizzotto on December 8, 1990, in Dallas Texas. They immediately moved to California as Mark was assigned as a plankowner on the USS Abraham Lincoln, as it was being built and then commissioned. The USS Abraham Lincoln was the lead aircraft carrier in the battle group during the Persian Gulf conflict. A couple of years later, a new posting in London, England saw more than three years of intense learning in Mark's chosen field, as well as travel all over Europe for the couple. Mark's final duty station was at the National Security Agency in Maryland. Upon his detachment from the Navy in 1997, Mark and Leah moved to Austin, Texas and in May of 2000 their son Kieran was born. In 2006 they relocated to Plano. Mark worked for IBM, and later AT&T, where he completed his colorful career as a Senior Software Engineer. Mark enjoyed and worked hard to help his co-workers and customers. He saw his job as a fruitful mission field to share love and provide great service for those with whom he interacted. Mark was a devoted husband and father. He loved to work on his classic car, the 1970 Chevy Nova, with his best friend Fernando. He was an avid and fantastic bowler and enjoyed playing on various teams and in leagues. He enjoyed cooking and made countless 5-star meals for family and friends. He was a huge Arkansas Razorbacks fan, never missing a chance to shout "Woo, Pig, Sooie!" He particularly enjoyed helping anyone in need in any way he could. He was very skilled with his hands, had a huge, caring heart, and will be remembered as a man of God. Mark is survived by his wife, Leah, son Kieran, and his buddy Clark the Beagle. In addition, siblings Dianna, Emily, Jim, Richard (deceased) and Charlie, numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and close friends remain to cherish memories of him. (Note "For Family Camp in memory of Mark E. Lewis.") Interment of ashes will take place at Veterans National Cemetery in Dallas later this year. The Parable of the Talents - Matthew 25 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes, and you clothed me, I was sick, and you looked after me, I was in prison, and you came to visit me.' Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.' "When he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry, and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger, and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' "He will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.' "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." Mark is now happy and healthy, completely restored, seated at the feet of the Father. Soli Deo Gloria!
