Michael Ray Martin 63 of Plano Texas passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 from complication of diabetes. Mike is survived by his loving sweetheart, Sandra, son Michael Jr and stepsons Stephen Demler, Jed Demler (Heather). Grandsons Zayden, Carson, Mason Demler and Cole Mclain. His mother Betty Barnes Carver and father Ray Martin (Kay), sisters Donna Quintanilla, and Tina Jones (Robert). Mike is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many loving family and friends. Mike was a true Texan and a gentleman in every sense of the word. He was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. Mike attended the University of Texas and remained a steadfast Longhorn supporter in the midst of a house full of LSU Tigers. When health slowed him down he enjoyed time with his family and watching and analyzing baseball was his passion. The Legacy Mike leaves are his love for his family coupled with the wisdom & knowledge he so willingly shared. His sons jokingly yet with complete sincerity referred to him as their Yoda. When any of the family needed a kind word, a lifted spirit, or wisdom beyond his years, Mike was always there to lovingly listen and guide. He especially enjoyed his talks with his grandson, Zayden. A celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, July 13th from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at The Brooks on Preston, 7200 Preston Road, Plano, TX 75024. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation - Dallas Chapter. Mike, a very special man, along with his knowledge was an inspiration to all who knew him and he will be sadly missed. Mike also gave the best directions which leaves us all truly lost.
