Obituary

Mary Ann (Wucher) Hancook of Plano, TX passed away with her husband and daughter by her side on October 15, 2024, after battling stage 4 gall bladder cancer. She was 78. She was born in Columbus, Indiana and moved to Plainfield, Indiana at the start of junior year in high school. There she met her husband Bob on a blind date, and they were together for 58 years. She passed away on their 58th wedding anniversary. M.A., as she preferred to be called, attended Indiana University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and honor societies Alpha Lambda Delta, and Pleiades.

In late 1969, both she and Bob blazed a trail from Indiana to Texas. As an early pioneer in chipping away at "the glass ceiling," M.A. worked for H. Ross Perot during the early EDS days at Exchange Park, hired flight attendants for Braniff Airways, and went "feet first" into sales and marketing communications for the remainder of her career. M.A. was a master of learning new industries and technologies and served in various director roles throughout her career. She also was the designer of the original Blockbuster Video logo, working for one David P. Cook. In the early/mid 90's M.A. was Vice Chair, National Programs/board member for the Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure" 5k series. Her fondest memories were those working for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Never crazy about retirement, M.A. started her own consulting company, MA Hancook Concepts and Copy, where she worked with both domestic and international clients in website design/coding, blogging, marketing strategy, and public relations.

Over the years, M.A. volunteered in various philanthropic organizations including The 500 Inc., Cross Country Club of Dallas, and the Dallas Marathon.

M.A. is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Christine, and grandson Cameron Keysor both from Marietta, Georgia. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 15th, 2pm, at Aria Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road, Dallas, 75252.
