Mary Frances Laws
Mcfadden
Oct 22, 1933 — Mar 24, 2026
Mary Frances Laws McFadden, 92, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026 at her residence at Appletree Court.
Mary was born in Seymour, Texas on October 22, 1933, to Clyde and Ailyn Hayes, and was the middle child with four brothers.
Mary graduated from Vera High School in Vera, Texas where she was Valedictorian, Most Likely to Succeed, Football Queen and Homecoming Queen. Mary continued her education at North Texas State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. While at North Texas, she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and the Early Childhood Education Club. Mary also received Language Therapist Certification, Montessori Training, and Alphabetic Phonics Training. Mary taught 2nd through 7th grades in Seymour, Dallas, Milwaukee, WI, Columbus, OH, and Midland. She always said that 3rd grade was her favorite grade to teach!
Mary taught for 32 years at Trinity School of Midland where she also served as Head of the Lower School. Upon her retirement from Trinity School, The Mary McFadden Award was established. The Mary McFadden Award is given to a Lower School student who exhibits the same enthusiasm for learning, compassion for others, and joy of life that Mary McFadden brought to the Trinity campus for 32 years.
Mary met the love of her life Ron when he returned from the Korean War, and they were married in 1959. They raised their three daughters in Midland, Texas where she was active in the Midland High Booster Club, a member of First United Methodist Church, sang in the Chancel Choir, volunteered in the youth group, and chaperoned yearly ski trips and mission trips. Mary was a member of the Kappa Delta Alumnae group. Mary and Ron moved to Dallas in 2002 where they lived until their deaths.
Mary was a grandmother of five, and a great-grandmother of one who loved to read to her grandchildren, and was a constant figure at their sporting events, musical performances and school functions. Her house was affectionally called "the house of yes," and she took great pride in being their Naw Naw.
Mary is preceded in life by her husband of 58 years, Ron, her brothers and her son-in-law Scott Johnson. She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses: Michelle Johnson, Melissa and Peter Williamson and Melody and Dan Collins. She is also survived by her grandchildren Mary Margaret and John Januszkiewicz and their daughter Emmie Januszkiewicz, Matthew and Samantha Johnson, Claire Williamson, Meg Williamson and Frances Collins as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Phillip and Ann McFadden.
Funeral services will be scheduled at a later date with burial at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mary McFadden to the Light the Way Campaign for the Lower School at Trinity School of Midland.
