Hermon Richard "Dick" McCandless III died Monday night, October 28, 2013, following a fall two days earlier that resulted in a traumatic and irreversible brain injury. Dick was born in Dallas on November 16, 1947 and was in the first graduating class of Lake Highlands High School. Dick's career was in the field of insurance where he served as office manager in several companies, specializing in keeping the computers up and running. Dick is survived by his sister Karen McClendon and her children, Lisa Lair, Leslie Murray and Kevin McClendon, all of the area. He is also survived by his first wife, Yolanda Torres McCandless, and by his beloved dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth King and H. R. McCandless, Jr. and by his second wife, Vicki Bigger Wall McCandless. Vicki's two sons and 5 grandchildren also survive. A memorial service is pending.
