Michael Craig McDaniel, age 67, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021. He was born on December 20, 1953 in Dallas, Texas to parents Billie and Ruby McDaniel. He was a lifelong resident of Texas except for a few years in his youth when the family moved to Colorado. He graduated from Golden High School in Golden, Colorado in 1972. In 1985 he joined the Texas Army National Guard where he worked as a recruiter and was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. Upon his retirement from the military, he completed his Bachelor's degree, majoring in History. In 2008, he found his passion and began teaching. He has been a beloved staff member of Barbara Bush Middle School in the Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD for the last 12 years. He taught History and Science and was also the Chess team sponsor. Throughout his life, he also had many hobbies and interests, including: military history, building model kits, wargaming, playing and umpiring softball, Dungeons and Dragons and above all, he LOVED the Dallas Stars. He is survived by his daughter Robyn Mills and husband, James, of Wylie, Texas, granddaughter, Natalie Mills, grandsons, Alex and Jackson Mills, nephew, Shane Morriss and wife, Roxana, of Golden, Colorado, and his fianc, Ren Curtis of McKinney, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billie and Ruby McDaniel, and his sister, Linda Morriss. Military Honors Services for Michael McDaniel will be at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie, TX on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 10:30am. We are assigned to lane 3.
