Marvin Dale Miles, age 57, passed away in McKinney, Texas on August 4th, 2019, surrounded by his family. Born in Guthrie, Oklahoma, Marvin lived and worked in Austin, Texas for the last 20 years and was a highly accomplished and recognized software systems technology professional for Cisco Systems. After graduating with honors from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1984, with a BS in Computer Science, Marvin amassed a long list of technical and leadership accomplishments and awards as he served Sonic Headquarters, Kerr-McGee Corporation, The City of Houston, Sprint Corporation, GTE, and Cisco. In his spare time, he and his business partners started a telecom software company that implemented PCS and Geo-stationary Satellite systems, headquartered in his home in Irving, Texas during the ISDN era. Marvin was a loving son, brother and uncle who enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed an array of hobbies that included live music, traveling, hiking, sailing, and most of all, photography. Marvin adored his beagles Krispy and Lexi and they accompanied him on his extensive RV travels, afforded by the remote nature of his work. Survivors include his parents, Carl and Berniece Miles, his two brothers Garyld Miles and wife Sarah, Ken Miles and wife Camille, and his sister Beverly Saunders; his three nephews Chris Saunders and wife Rebecca, Garrison Miles, and Reid Miles; his seven nieces, Elizabeth Lincoln and husband John, Melissa Sun and husband Jon, Linsey Miles, Anna Marie Albers and husband Kyle, Camryn Franklin, Grace Miles and Carley Franklin; his grand nieces and nephews, Quinn, Charlotte, Wesley, and James Lincoln, Jordana and Elena Sun, and Rylee and Brynleigh Blagg. SERVICE DETAILS: A Celebration of Life Service for Marvin will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, August 18th, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond, 1001 S. Rankin Street, Edmond, Oklahoma 73034. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to your local Meals-on-Wheels, a cause Marvin passionately supported throughout his adult life.
