Obituary

Millard Foster Turner passed away quietly September 22, 2025, at Baylor Hospital in Irving, Texas. He had been experiencing multiple medical events for several weeks.

He was born in Denton, Texas on December 13, 1937, the only son of his late parents Millard Thaddeus and Pearl Valentine Turner. He was close to his sister, the late Frances Lee. His family fondly called him "Sonny", but everyone else called him "M.F." (He says it stands for Mighty Fine, nothing else.).

Millard is survived by three daughters-Leah and Terri of Cañon City, Colorado, and Patricia of Irving, Texas. His son, Barry, preceded him in death in 2024. There are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. (He remembered every birthday by sending a card and check.) He is also survived by his loving partner of over 30 years, Alene Winn.

After graduating from Stamford High School, Millard "joined the service, the postal service". He worked as a mailman in Irving for many years. When he retired, he was the most senior in the local post office. He enjoyed golfing through the years, especially with his father in New Mexico, and later with friends, particularly Bill Martin, in Texas. He could often be found volunteering as an ambassador or playing golf at Twin Wells Golf Course in Irving, Texas.

He was a unique man who had the greatest sense of humor. Over the years he and Alene loved the many bus trips they took all around the country and even around Europe. For decades they had season tickets to productions at Irving Mainstage.

His allegiance to the Dallas Cowboys was well known. When the Cowboys game was on, everything stopped, or was ignored. He adapted his back room into his "man cave" where a big screen tv and plenty of seating were available for every game.

But most importantly, Millard said he was ready to depart this temporary earthly life and be with Jesus. His burial will be in the Blue Ridge Cemetery in Marlin, Texas, (behind the church built on property donated over 150 years ago by Millard's family). A "come and go" celebration of life will be at his Irving home on October 25, 2025, from 2-4pm for family and friends. There will also be a celebration of life in Colorado with his loving family.
