Thelma D. Morrison died February 28, 2017 in Dallas, TX at the age of 90. She moved there in 2012 from Virginia Beach, VA, where she had lived for 40 years. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she received a Diploma in Fashion Design from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, PA. She married Robert J. Morrison and traveled the U.S. as the wife of a Marine Corps pilot. She received a BS in Secondary Education, Magna Cum Laude, from Old Dominion University and taught art in Virginia Beach schools for 10 years. With a lifelong interest in the arts, she served as a docent at the Chrysler Museum of Art, a member of the Tidewater Antiques and Arts Association, and a member of the Retired Officer Wives Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Robert J. Morrison, and is survived by a daughter, Robin M. Caldwell (John) of Plano, TX; a son, Robert J. Morrison Jr. (Susan) of Williamsburg, VA; a son Douglas H. Morrison of Vienna, Austria; one granddaughter, and two grandsons. A private memorial service will be held at National Cemetery in Quantico, VA in the spring. Memorials may be sent to your local SPCA.
