Edward Lewis Motteram, Jr. (Gus) age 71, died peacefully on May 22, 2019 at 5:58 p.m. with his heartbroken wife Jo-Anne holding his hand and his large and loving family surrounding him. His death followed a very brief illness. The world lost a bit of its brightness when he passed into the golden rain of his heavenly and eternal home. He was born September 29, 1947 in Homestead, PA and was the oldest son of Edward L. Motteram Sr. and Alberta Naomi Owens. Ed proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1973, when he was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant after serving as an Instrument Instructor for new pilots. After his discharge he returned to college and completed his Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. He worked briefly at Texas Instruments and Gardner Denver. He retired in June of 2013 from Flowtronix/Xylem where he worked for many years as a sales engineer, selling and designing pumps for irrigation and fire suppression systems. He traveled extensively throughout the U.S. for his job and was fortunate enough to play golf at some of the country's premier courses as a perk of his work. Ed was an avid reader of The Bible, and had an amazing memory for scripture. He enjoyed reading and research about WWII and could wax on for hours about the personalities and strategies of the military leaders of the time. Ed also was a model railroader, designing track layouts and towns around his N-scale setup. He spent many hours in his "man cave", always changing and perfecting the details. He also received his pilot's license and spent many hours in the air. Ed was a member in good standing of Alcoholics Anonymous since June 1, 1990 and served his group in various capacities over the years. After his marriage to Jo-Anne in 2014 they went on many "adventures" across our great country. From Yellowstone National Park to the Grand Canyon and the Adirondacks of New York State and many places in between. They spent many hours driving and observing the beauty of God's works on earth. Edward is survived by his loving wife, Jo-Anne of Richardson, Texas as well as brother David Motteram and wife Gina of Rowlett, TX; sisters Judith Griffin (Bill) of Dallas, Texas; Jeanne (Charles) Stevens of Stratham, GA; Ellen (David) Gehl of Houston, TX; and Jane (Steve) Sheffler of Rowlett, TX as well as daughters Holly Motteram of Wylie, Texas and Heather Motteram. Ed was an amazing Uncle Gus to his many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and "Grandpa Ed" to Madison Delaney, Katherine Walker, William, Ellie and Tommy Slaughter, and great grandfather to Brylee Bosher. Five years ago Ed acquired a bonus family when he married Jo-Anne. He was loved greatly by her son David Slaughter and wife Tanya as well as her daughter Becky Friedman and husband Jerry. He also gained another large family with Jo-Anne's 8 siblings who embraced him as their own. Ed was a family man from the start to the very end. His best memories were from family reunions, holiday gatherings and just good times with his siblings and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Network of Community Ministries in Richardson, Texas or the 24 Hour Club in Dallas, Texas. Inurnment will be at DFW National Cemetery at a later date. A Memorial Service for Edward will be on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 2:30pm at Aria Funeral Home located at 19310 Preston Rd. Dallas, TX 75252.
