Jon Warren Mullins, 64, of Plano, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 after a short battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Holly; his son, Perry and his wife, Sarah; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Margie; nephew Steve, his wife Suzanne and their children, Aidan and Zoe; and niece Janice and her daughter Danielle. Jon is preceded in death by his brother, Joe, and his daughter, Amber. Jon was born in Spencer, West Virginia on January 1, 1952, the son of Warren Beverly Mullins and Garnett Carper. He settled down with his wife, Holly, in Indian Head, Maryland where he worked with commercial security and fire systems for 7 years. Jon, Holly, and their two kids, Amber and Perry, moved to Dallas in 1996 to continue his career for another 20 years before being diagnosed with a brain tumor in late 2015. Jon, known by his friends as Moon, was witty and quick with a joke, and he was known by his friends and family for his dry sense of humor, flirty attitude, and love for Redskins football. He was never afraid of an adventure-whether sailing across the Gulf of Mexico or spending a summer exploring Central America. Jon was an exceptionally loyal friend and a devoted husband and father who would have done anything for those he loved. He spent much of his time outdoors hunting and camping with his friends and family. He loved barbecue, beer, and dove hunting, although the birds usually won the day. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23rd at 2:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Dallas (11122 Midway Road). In lieu of flowers, donations in Jon's memory may be made to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
