JOANNE RENEE MYERS, Artist Born on October 22, 1949 in Washington D.C. and passed away on February 22, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. Joanne passed peacefully early Sunday morning, February 22, 2015. As in life, Joanne's passing found her surrounded by family and friends, bringing together new bonds and friendships and renewing many from years past. Joanne never knew a stranger and took joy in making connections and creating lifelong relationships. Joanne was predeceased by her father, Joseph M. Myers. She is survived by her mother, Virginia Lee Myers, sister, Barbara Dacy (David) of Hernando, Mississippi, sister, Brenda J. Myers, of Dallas, Texas, niece, Erin Dacy Boles (Ben), niece, Brooke Vasquez Dacy (Horacio), great nieces, Baylee Vasquez, Avery Vasquez, Ansley Boles, and Jillian Boles. Joanne so missed her friend, Greg Connell, who predeceased her. Joanne was reunited with her sisters from Gulf Park College during recent years which gave her great joy and happiness. Condolences have been received from around the world from the vast number of her friends. Joanne was born in Washington D.C. and as a child lived in many places across the country with her family. Along with her sister, Barbara, she was a child model in Chicago. She attended high school in Fort Worth, Texas and was a graduate of Gulf Park College in Gulfport, Mississippi and Brenau College in Gainesville, Georgia, with fine arts degrees. Her life as an artist continued her travels living in Mississippi, Georgia, California, Texas, and Florida. She traveled extensively and particularly loved her time in Paris and Hong Kong. A contemporary abstract artist, Joanne's art is located internationally. She discovered success working with designers and architects and enjoyed the many collectors who proudly display her work. The family will hold a small family memorial and as Joanne would want to be remembered, a celebration of her life and retrospective of her work will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund, "Joanne's Heart" will be established to promote and allow artists' ability to independently pursue their passion and calling. Joanne will be remembered by her family as the beautiful child with dimples and curls, the life of the party and center of entertainment at every gathering, and the talented artist who pursued her art with uncompromising passion and devotion. We do know your heart Joanne and you gave it with your all.
