Obituary

Nancy Carolyn Benner, age 86, passed away on August 16, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on August 7, 1939, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After completing her education at Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Nancy pursued higher education at the University of Oklahoma, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She completed her medical technology internship at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa and later dedicated her career to the field of clinical laboratory science, culminating in her role as Director of Clinical Lab at Doctors Hospital in Dallas, from which she retired in 1999.

Nancy cherished many joyful holidays with her family in Hawaii and on Sanibel Island, where she and her sister, Betty, spent countless hours collecting seashells. A lover of animals, she shared her life with several dogs and even had a horse. Her true passion, however, lay in birding; she was an enthusiastic birder who traveled to Belize multiple times to observe its exotic bird life there.

A devoted member of the Cathedral of Hope, United Church of Christ, Nancy was known for her kindness and gentle spirit, embodying the qualities of a true Southern lady. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her nephew, Bobby Mullendore, and his wife, Robyn, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. She leaves behind a multitude of friends, including special companions Kathy Hand, June Boyd, Marge Austin, Viki Besch, and Janet Bell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Sue and Russell Benner; her sister, Betty Sue Mullendore; and her niece, Cathy Mullendore Jenkins.

A memorial service will be held at the Cathedral of Hope, Peace Chapel, on September 12, 2025, at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rogers Wildlife , Straydog , Cathedral of Hope , or a charity of your choice.

Nancy's legacy of compassion and dedication to her passions will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
