Nancy Ann Hoeft, local elementary teacher, loving mother and spouse died January 26, 2023 of Lewy Body Dementia.
Born September 28, 1947, Minneapolis Minnesota, to Robert and Mildred Ritter, Nancy grew up in Fridley, Minnesota, attended Immaculate Conception elementary and middle schools and graduated from Fridley High School (1965). In 1965 she represented Fridley as "Miss Fridley". She graduated from Saint Cloud State University in 1969, degreed in Elementary and Special Education. Following assignments in several school districts, Nancy joined South Washington County (MN) Schools in 1975 as a teacher at Crestview Elementary.
Nancy and John Hoeft met at a party in 1975 and married in 1977; they moved to Dallas in 1984. Nancy stayed home to raise her family until joining Carrollton- Farmers Branch ISD in 1987. She taught primary grades at Blanton and Kent Elementary and retired from the classroom in 2004. Nancy loved teaching and loved her students. She used her gifts of creativity and positivity to organize activities that nurtured her students by making learning fun and interesting.
After classroom retirement, Nancy became a traveling trainer and taught educators across the country how to evaluate children's reading readiness and track student progress using handheld electronic devices and "Wireless Generation" software.
Nancy worked for several years as a sales consultant/ model for Jack Delemar at the Dallas Apparel Mart, allowing her an opportunity to express her love of fashion.
She is survived by her husband, John Hoeft, three children, their significant others and four grandchildren: Matthew (Jennifer McIntyre, Shelby and Hayden): Marin (Ryan Farmer); and Michael (Alice Kiel, Brooklyn and Logan): also by her brothers, Rick (Alice Styger) and Mike Ritter (Mary Soukup) and sisters Shari (Terry Beaudoin) and Jean Kelly.
Nancy was a beautiful and gracious person who liked being with people and loved being a teacher. She was approachable, interested in people, kind to everyone and always carried herself with elegance and grace. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, enjoying good food and visiting beautiful and interesting places. Her family and friends will always carry her with them in their hearts. A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM, Monday, February 13, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1705 E Peters Colony Rd, Carrollton, TX. All are invited to attend a lunch reception immediately following the service at Celebration Restaurant, 4503 W Lovers Lane, Dallas TX. A memorial service will also be held in Minnesota in late Spring/ early Summer; time and place TBD. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
