James Buchanan Newburn, Sr., 82, of Denison, was born on November 7, 1931 in Citronelle, Alabama to Wesley and Ellen Taylor Newburn. He passed away on October 28, 2014, in Denison, Texas. Mr. Newburn was a Christian. He worked for more than 50 years in the construction industry as a cement finisher. He served in the US Army Airborne during the Korean War, where was a Paratrooper in the Special Forces and earned the Purple Heart. Mr. Newburn is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Gloria Newburn, of Denison; a son, James B. Newburn, Jr. of Sherman; a daughter, Katherine Jean Newburn of Denison; and four grandchildren.
