Noah Roger Loter, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, in Plano, Texas, at the age of 88. He was born on May 17, 1936, in McLean, Texas, to Henry David Loter and Sybil Young Loter.
A proud graduate of Plainview High School and Texas Tech University, Roger went on to become a prominent Lubbock businessman and restaurateur. Roger was the owner of several restaurants and businesses in Lubbock, including The Purple Onion, Zuider Zee Seafood Restaurant and La Fonda del Sol to name a few. He was involved in the Lubbock community, contributing to numerous civic projects and was instrumental in the effort to bring alcohol sales to Lubbock restaurants in 1972. Roger later moved to Dallas, Texas and worked for Abbott Laboratories. In 1990, he had the opportunity to work in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as Director of Operations for Mawarid Food Company. He retired as business manager from RHD Construction Company in 2014.
He loved traveling, classical music, spending time with his family and a well-made Manhattan.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ellis Benson Loter, whom he met at a faculty meeting at Hale Center High School in 1963. He is also survived by his daughters, Jana Mura, and grandsons AJ and Charlie; Kristi Peak and her husband Randy, and grandson Clark.
