Obituary

Nolan Hoke Mills was born in Waco, Texas, on January 2, 1935. He went home to meet his Savior on April 24, 2024. He grew up with his amazing sister, Bettie, whom he adores. He graduated from Baylor University in 1956, and met his deeply beloved wife of 65 years, Cindy (Mary), in Alabama. Not a day went by that he didn't tell her he loved her, and how beautiful she was to him. They had four children, Corey, (wife Windy, daughters Madison and MacKenzie), Marla, (deceased in infancy), Tanya, (husband Chris, daughters Kaya and Kira, and sons Caleb and Cooper), and Kevin, (wife Kim, daughter Alden). Nolan loved his daughters-in-law and son-in-law as fiercely as he loved his kids and grandkids. Most of all, Nolan loved Jesus. There was nothing as important to him as his relationship with his Savior. He loved to share his faith unashamedly with everyone, along with a sincere desire to get to know the person with whom he was speaking. He was a passionately devoted family man, and he tried not to miss a baseball game, volleyball game, basketball game, motocross race, concert, horse show, or hockey game his kids and grandkids were in. While he worked for the Department of Defense most of his life, he would rather be known for his faith, dad jokes, his endless kindness, and his enormous generosity. He had a true servant's heart, and he was always thankful for his blessings, and grateful for God's never-ending grace and mercy. He never met a stranger, and he was truly fascinated by people's personal stories, and was a cheerful, gentle, easy-going man, who would give you the shirt off his back. While our grief feels bottomless, we are completely confident in his current joy and wonder as he is staring in awe at the face of Jesus, and we can't wait to see him again.
