Longtime resident of Dallas, Barbara Noller has passed away of various complications at the age of 87. Born on August 24th, 1931, in Abilene Texas, she spent her youth and teenage years in and around the Abilene area. Her father John (Johnny) Pechacek made his living through the ownership of a local hardware store know as Lion Hardware and Barbara spent her youth along with her two siblings Marian and John Adam (Sonny) and her Mother Clara growing up in West Texas. In 1942, Johnny bought a ranch east of town where Barbara learned to ride horse back. She fondly remembered the days riding her horse "Miss Hi-Hat", helping her dad work the cows and the fence lines. After graduating from Abilene High, she attended Baylor for one and half years and then transferred to The University Of Texas in Austin where she met her eventual husband Max Noller who was pursuing his Law degree. Barbara obtained a degree in education, they married in 1953 and moved to Dallas to begin their life together and to raise a family in the North Dallas area. Barbara had many interests and passions. She loved to travel…particularly places that involved Biblical Archaeology and studies. Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Syria and Lebanon in the Middle East as well as Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya in Northern Africa were some of the many countries she visited. Whether in a group or on her own, she always returned home to Dallas with many stories, photographs and insights which she would share with her family and many friends. Barbara was an active participant in the art and music world. She regularly attended the opera, symphony, summer musicals as well as the art museums of Dallas and Fort Worth. Barbara and her family were loyal members of John Calvin United Presbyterian Church beginning in 1959. For many years she served in the role of leadership as a church elder as well as singing in the choir. In later years she enjoyed teaching adult bible studies in a combined Presbyterian Church setting. Barbara was a wonderful mother to her children as they grew up. During the 1960's and 1970's she made sure her kids were out of the house playing with other friends rather than watching television…and that they read at least one book per week. Her children knew that the signal to come home was when the street light came on and she made sure the family ate their meals together which she orchestrated conversation around what everyone did for the day. Some of the best memories she helped create were family vacations. Barbara is proceeded in death by her husband Max in 1993, her father John Adam in 1972, her mother Clara Lee in 1965 and her brother John Adam (Sonny) in 1966. She is survived by her Sister Marian of Abilene Texas, her Son Bruce and Daughter-in-Law Mary of Dallas, Grandson Adam of New Orleans, Grand Daughter Laura of Dallas, Son David and Daughter-in-Law Virada of Thailand and Daughter Leanne and Son-in-Law Brent Althouse and Grandsons Max and Aric Althouse of Monument, Colorado. MEMORIAL SERVICE DETAILS: A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 27th, 2019 in the Presbyterian Village North Chapel at 2:00pm, located at 8600 Skyline Drive, Dallas, Texas 75243.
