Steven Binford O'Keefe, 70, of Sunset, Texas passed away January 3, 2015. The son of Mike & Virginia O'Keefe, he was born September 18, 1944, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He grew up in Memphis, TN attending Central High School and Memphis State University. He was drafted into the Army and was a distinguished Vietnam veteran receiving the Silver Star for valor and the Purple Heart. Steve had a deep love of music. He was a member of "The Counts" throughout high school and college, playing venues across the Mid-South and later playing with the band "Solid Gold". He was an extremely caring and outgoing man who made others feel important. He enjoyed learning about new people and places and helping Army buddies stay in contact by organizing several reunion events. Steve enjoyed woodworking, travel; and sharing good food and wine with family and friends. No matter where in the world he was, he always seemed to run into someone he knew. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cynthia, two children Amy Castillo (Tom) and Jason Crawley (Melissa), three grandchildren Wesley, Caelan and Allie Castillo, and sisters Patty Grimes and Kathleen Durbin. Funeral services will be Friday, January 9th at Church of the Holy Communion, 17405 Muirfield Drive; Dallas, TX 75287 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Steve's name to one of the following charities that support causes close to his heart: Operation Homefront, American Cancer Society, and/or your local chapter of the SPCA.
