Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Amond McCaffrey on July 9th 2024. Paul was born in Dallas, Texas on August 24th 1931 to late Elise Guillemet and Harry McCaffrey Sr. He grew up in Oak Cliff going to Adamsom Highschool, he went to Abilene to live with his older sister Dale where he attended St. Joseph's Academy and graduated in 1949. He enlisted in the marines in 1950 serving as a staff sergeant at Camp Pendleton in California. He was on a ship off the coast of Korea when the armistice was signed.

Paul married Geraldine Hill on December 29th 1951 and raised their three children in Dallas, Little Rock, back to Dallas, San Antonio, Waco, and finally settling in Dallas, always moving to attain a better position in the insurance industry. He was an insurance agent for over 40 years owning his own agency The Macsom Agency in partnership with long time friend Jack Sommerfield for the last 9 years before he retired in 1991. During that time Paul was President of the Professional Insurance Agents for several years. He and Gerry traveled in many parts of the world due to his level of success at selling insurance. He was a Scoutmaster for two years. He also was very involved in volunteer work including White Rock Center of Hopes food pantry, reading to children at Rhinehart Elementary school and recording audio tapes for the blind. He held numerous positions at St. John's Episcopal Church of which he had been a member for many years.

Paul loved playing golf. Once retired he played three times a week into his eighties. He had two hole in ones of which he was very proud. He also loved his annual camping trips with his church St. John's.

Paul is survived by his wife Geraldine, his 3 children – Rick, (Stephanie Bianchi), Julia (Mike Harrell), and Gary, grandchildren Erik McCaffrey (Sara Davis), Shaun McCaffrey (Cathleen Meister), and Rachel (Matt Clarke) great-grandchildren (Isaiah Clarke, Emman Clarke, Avery Clarke, Zoey Harrell, Caleb Reed, Quenisha Conaway and great great grandchildren Zy'xonte Conaway, Maia McCaffrey, Declan McCaffrey, & Finley McCaffrey

He was preceded in death by his parents Elise Guillemet and Harry, his three sisters Bernice, Dale, and Ruthy, his brother Harry, and his grandson Paul (survived by his spouse Dawn Reed)

Geraldine, his children, and everyone who knew him will miss him along with his incredible sense of humor, honest and easy going nature, and his dedication to his god, family, and friends. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church at 848 Harter Rd. in Dallas at 1pm. Interment ceremony will be at St. John's along with Reception after the services.
