Rev. Vernon W. Pecht, 84, of Mesquite, was called up to become the newest tenor in the heavenly chorus on December 21. Expect "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing" to be a little louder this year. Vernon White Pecht was born October 25, 1931, in Houston, Texas, to Edmund and Josie Schuller Pecht. He is one of triplets (Vonnie and Virgil) who made medical history in Houston at the time of their birth. Vernon was ordained into the Lutheran ministry on June 16, 1957. He developed two Lutheran congregations in Texas and served several others during his ministry. He was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Dallas for more than 35 years. Vernon was a member of the Lakewood Dallas Kiwanis Club and Past Lt. Governor, Division 2 of the Texas-Oklahoma District, Kiwanis International (2005-07). Vernons life was dedicated to serving the Lord through his church, his community and his fellow brothers and sisters in the faith. If there are any words that can be said about Vernons journey here on earth, they are "Well done, good and faithful servant." Vernon is survived by his sisters, Vernell Turner and Vonnie Adair; his children, Paula Jasso and husband Trinity; Paul Pecht and wife Robin; Carolyn Pecht; Verna Lynne Burt and husband Stephen; and James Pecht and wife Jenny. Also surviving are eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as siblings Jack, Leroy, C. J., Sidney and Virgil Pecht and their spouses. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Central Lutheran Church in Dallas, with Rev. Rich Pounds officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Central Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
