Linda Elizabeth Pennington, 71, passed away on Saturday, July 13th at The T. Boone Pickens Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Dallas, TX. Linda was born to proud young parents Dan and Sadie Perrett on October 27, 1948 in New Orleans, LA at Touro Infirmary. After brothers Dan and Ronnie joined the family in Louisiana, the Perretts began to travel due to Dan's changing positions in the medical profession. Linda lived in four states and six cities by the time she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas. She attended North Texas State University for 2 years until she met and married Joe Byron Pennington, with whom she had two sons, Joe Byron Pennington II and David Perrett Pennington. Fully committed to raising her boys, Linda soon exhibited her entrepreneurial spirit starting her first business, Little People, a children's day care, so she could watch over her kids' first experience in education. As the years of soccer games, karate lessons, and proms flew by, Linda earned her real estate brokers license. She and partner Charles Ray built, leased and sold commercial buildings in Dallas under several business entities including, Linya, Inc. and Allied Fidelity Investment Corporation. After a decade of success, the economy dried up funding and they moved on. When Linda made up her mind to do something, she usually made it happen, so no one was surprised when she parlayed her talent for interior design into her next business venture, Redecorating With Style. What started out as reorganization of existing space morphed into a successful home remodeling/construction company that created beautiful spaces out of tired old kitchens, bathrooms and other neglected areas. Her business model was simple: commitment, preparation, hard work, and a talented and dedicated crew. AND relentlessly high standards for herself and everyone else on the job; no detail was too small or insignificant to escape Linda's eagle eye. A skilled hostess and fabulous cook, Linda also loved gardening on her patio, interior design and golf. An excellent player with perfect form, she often volunteered at the Byron Nelson Tournament in Dallas. Her favorite subject for discussion was politics and if the TV was on it was on Fox news. Above all, however, Linda was a loyal friend and a selfless caretaker of her family. Her number one priority in life was the well being of her sons. All holidays and birthdays were celebrated at Lindas house, and Christmas was all the more beautiful because of her creative decorations. Be it poker at a birthday get-together or charades at Christmas, Linda played to win and loved the competition. The family's favorite special-occasion meal was a Cajun shrimp boil of up to 20 pounds of steaming red shrimp covered in thyme, red pepper and bay leaves. And although her dad was the expert Cajun cook in the family, she loved to tell him how to do it. Linda is survived by her sons Joe and David, her mother Sadie Elizabeth Perrett, and her brother Daniel J. Perrett III and his wife Marilyn. She was preceded in death by her younger brother Ronald Sitman Perrett in September 2013. Linda passed five days before her father, Daniel J. Perrett, Jr., who passed on July 18th.
