Obituary

It is with hearts heavy with sorrow, yet filled with cherished memories, that we announce the passing of our beloved Penor (Ped) Edgar Mapanao. He left this world on April 1, 2025, at the age of 57, leaving a void that can never truly be filled. Born on May 15, 1967, in Manila, Philippines, Ped's journey brought him to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2005, a place he would call home and where he would touch so many lives.

To his wife, Jo-Ann, he was a devoted partner, a steadfast rock, and the love of her life. To Niko, Polo, and Edann, he was more than just a father; he was their guiding star, their biggest supporter, and their hero. He poured his heart into raising them, celebrating their triumphs, comforting them in their challenges, and instilling in them the values that made him such an extraordinary man. The laughter shared, the lessons taught, and the unwavering love he gave will forever be etched in their hearts, like the memory of his enthusiastic cheers and laughs at every game and the patient way he taught them to drive a stick shift.

Ped was a man of intellect and drive. As an Electrical Engineer for over a decade, he applied his sharp mind to his work. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through in his company, P-Square, and he embraced new ventures with enthusiasm, from marketing for Personal Collection to his time as a teacher in Texas. In his latest role at MedSource, he found not only a profession but also a valued partnership with Edwin. Regardless of his title, Ped was known for his unwavering commitment, his strong work ethic, and the genuine kindness he extended to everyone he encountered. He had a remarkable ability to make those around him feel seen, understood, and capable. His guidance was a gift, and his knack for fixing anything – from a leaky faucet in the kitchen to offering a comforting word during a difficult time – was legendary.

Beyond his professional life, Ped found immense joy in the simple yet profound moments. He was a lifelong learner, always with a book in hand or a documentary queued, eager to learn about history, science, or the world around him. He enjoyed the camaraderie of sports, the escape of movies and shows, and the thrill of travel and driving. Exploring new restaurants with his family was a cherished ritual, a way to connect and savor life's flavors together. But above all else, Ped's greatest happiness stemmed from the love he shared with his family. Every moment spent with Jo-Ann and his boys was precious, a building block in the foundation of their enduring bond.

Ped embodied wisdom and kindness, strength tempered with gentleness, and a generosity of spirit that knew no bounds. He often turned to the comforting words of Psalm 23, finding solace and guidance in its verses. He lived his life according to its principles, radiating love, positivity, laughter, and unwavering support to all who were fortunate enough to know him. He Loved the Lord with all his heart and mind and led his family in a God-fearing way. His was a beautiful soul that enriched the lives of countless individuals, and the memories we hold of him will continue to illuminate our paths.

Though our hearts ache with his absence, we find comfort in knowing that Ped's legacy of love and kindness will live on through his beloved wife, Jo-Ann; his cherished sons, Niko, Polo, and Edann; and the many dear relatives and friends whose lives he touched. He is reunited in peace with the Lord, his parents and other loved ones who went before him.
