Mabel Garrett Prock, age 98, passed away on the 14th of May, 2015 at her home in Dallas, Texas. She was born and raised in Erick, Oklahoma to the late Charles and Lexia Bullard Garrett. She was an honor student and graduated with a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Mabel was an elementary school teacher in the Hext and Erick Oklahoma School Systems and an English teacher in the Sweetwater and Sayre Oklahoma School Systems. She married Robert H. Prock and the two shared 67 happy years together. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Walter, and sisters, Irene, Velma, Gladys, and Bernice. Mabel is survived by her daughters, Karen Anstead of Dallas, TX , and Jana Prock, of Fort Worth, TX, her sister, Helen Gumper of Georgetown, TX, grandsons, Justin (Angela) and Christopher Anstead, and great-grandson, James Robert Anstead of Richardson, TX. A memorial service will be held at the Abbey Chapel in Restland Memorial Gardens, Dallas, Texas on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm with a private burial to follow at a later date in Oklahoma.
