Ronald Raymond Rathman, 71, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2016 due to cardiovascular and respiratory complications. He was surrounded by family and friends. Ron (and his fraternal twin, Don) were born on February 23, 1945 in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Francis and Janice Rathman. He was raised in Baraboo, WI and graduated from Baraboo High School in 1963. After high school, Ron attended the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire before moving to Texas in 1964 where he attended the University of Texas at Arlington. Ron married Rebecca Susan Bullock on April 30, 1971 and had two children - Ryan and Rachel. Ron worked in the manufacturing industry for over 40 years and also was a member of the National Guard. Ron enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He looked forward to the change of season and the holidays that were celebrated in each. He loved his family and adored all of the family dogs over the years. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and four of his siblings, Richard, Donald, Gerald and Jeannie. He is survived by his loving family: his daughter, Rachel Rathman Hairford, her husband Jason and their three children, Jake, Abby and Nate, of McKinney, TX; his son, Ryan Rathman and Ryan's wife Katharine Strunk and their two children, Cole and Bryce Rathman, of Los Angeles, CA; and his sister, Sharon Lee of Tom Bean, TX. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the amazing team at VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit on the campus of Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton who provided Ron with such kindness, compassion and skilled care during his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (http://svdpdallas.org/give/donate/online). A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at St. Jude Catholic Church located at 1515 N. Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002.
