Obituary

Ross G. Rico, most affectionately known to friends as "Rico", left our Earthly world to be with our Father, March 5, 2014 at the age of 65 from complications related to a long battle with kidney and liver disease. Born October 25, 1948 in Dallas, TX, he was the youngest son of Angel and Rita Rico. He grew up in and around Garland, TX where he graduated from South Garland High School in 1966. Upon graduation, he joined the US Army where he proudly served as a gunner on several gun trucks for the 512th TC in the Vietnam War. He was a true working man that worked for several manufacturing companies in the Dallas area. He retired as a Facilities Technician for Dallas County in October of 2010. He was most recently married to Julee Warren on February 6, 2004. His marriage to Jessie Terry Flynn, ended in divorce, in September of 1987. During the last moments of his life, he was ushered on to his heavenly journey by his wife Julee, son Shannon Rico (Dianna), daughter Monica Rico, stepson Josh Warren (Carrie), stepdaughter Jennifer Treat (Bob), and his older brother Joe Rico (Adela). Several other dear family members and friends were also nearby. In addition to those mentioned above he is survived by a son Ross Joe Rico Dallas, TX, brother Manuel Rico (Barbara) of Chattanooga, TN, a sister Jessie Cyr (San Antonio),his beloved in-laws, Dan and Mary Lou Maher Richardson, TX, Jeff Abernathy (Amy, Nathan, Matthew) Plano, TX, and Cheryl Moore Plano, TX, and several nieces and nephews that he loved very much. One of his proudest achievements was being a grandpa and he left this world to watch over his grandchildren from above. His special relationship with his grandchildren is something they will never be able to replace. His grandchildren are Courtney and Cristyn Castillo, Caitlyn, Camryn and Chase Warren, Asher Morgan, Jennissa, Nathanniel and Lilianna Rico, and last but not least, William Treat. His extraordinary ability to make and keep friends makes a list far too large to renumerate completely but he wished to have a special mention of Vietnam War buddies Rick Zimmerman (who traveled to be by Ross' side in his final days), Indiana, and J.J. Allen (Lynn) Ohio. Additionally, he had several couples who were special lifelong friends Larry and Jeanne Carr (Dallas, TX), Frank and Noni Reed (Garland, TX), Dena and Robert Blevins (Scurry, TX), Pam and Johnny Peters (Farmersville, TX). He was preceded in death by his mother and father, a sister (Nifa), a brother (Felipe). The family will be having a memorial service to celebrate the life and love of Ross: 11:00 Saturday, March 15 United Disciples Christian Church 601 E. Main Street Richardson, TX 75081 An interment and committal service with military honors will be held at 11:15 A.M., Tuesday, March 18th, 2014 at DFW National Cemetery.
