Robert "Bob" Garza, age 82, passed away peacefully in Plano, Texas, on April 10, 2023.
Bob was a hard-working and loving family man who enjoyed sports, traveling, and music of all kinds. His family and friends loved him dearly.
He was born July 5, 1940, in San Marcos, Texas, to Antonio and Hortencia Garza. He grew up in San Marcos where he enjoyed music, restoring classic cars, and was active in the Presbyterian Church.
After high school, he attended Southwest Texas State University. After pausing his education to join the Marines, where he trained as an electrician and was stationed in the United States and Japan, he returned and finished his degree in Math.
After college, he worked as a teacher, and then a computer programmer for USAA before moving to Plano, Texas, to start his career at Bank of America in Dallas. He was a Vice President and worked as a Database Administrator. He retired in 2012 after 33 years with the bank. His parents precede Bob in death. Survivors include his wife Sherri of Plano; children Melissa Garza and husband Tim Wood of Austin, Bobby Garza of Austin, Chris Garza and wife Emily of Houston, Jeff Garza and wife Alex of Dallas, Ashley Knell and husband Will of Frisco; grandchildren Gael and Mauro Garza of Austin, Kennedy and Grant Garza of Houston, and Robby and Maddie Knell of Frisco; sisters Olga Garza and Lillian Garza of Austin; and many extended family and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday May 13, 2023, at 11:00 am at North Dallas Funeral Home at 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.
