Robert Edward Gillespie, age 81, passed away on July 19, 2026, at Medical City of Plano. Born on January 6, 1945, in Bluefield, West Virginia, Robert later made his home in the Dallas, Texas, area. He had a lifelong interest in economic markets and built his career as a stockbroker. A man of faith, Robert was actively involved in his church community at St. Andrew Methodist Church, where he generously devoted his time and energy in support of the church and its Christian mission. He was also an avid student of American history, a subject that remained a meaningful interest throughout his life. Robert is survived by his wife, Janet Bridgeman Gillespie of Richardson, Texas; his brother, William Mason Gillespie; his daughter, Jill Diane Tucker (husband, Cory Tucker); and his son, Robert Edward Gillespie, Jr. (wife, Kristin Keith Gillespie). He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Abby McConaughey, Monica Gillespie, and Gabriel Gillespie; and his great-grandchild, Ellie McConaughey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Gillespie and Beatrice Shirley Gillespie of Bluefield, West Virginia. A memorial service celebrating Robert’s life will be held at St. Andrew Methodist Church on August 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 5801 West Plano Parkway in Plano, Texas. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and join together in remembering Robert and honoring his life. Interment will take place privately at a later date.
