First Presbyterian Church Richardson
2:00 - 3:00 pm (Central time)
Robert Crosley Grimes, known affectionately to family and friends as Bobba, was born on November 28, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and passed away peacefully at home in Richardson, Tx on September 23, 2026.
Bob was the devoted husband of nearly 74 years to Mary Jo. Together they built a loving family that includes their children, Steve, Mark (Tiffany), and Kim (Gregg); grandchildren Megan (Hank), Sam, and Caleb; and the cherished memory of grandson Andrew, who passed away in 2012.
Bob earned a bachelor's degree in Music from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati in 1951 before serving in the United States Army Signal Corps Research Division during the Korean War. He later earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1957.
His professional career brought him to Dallas, where he worked for Texas Instruments, Fairchild, and later in computer equipment sales.
A longtime member of First Presbyterian Church Richardson, Bob served faithfully as an elder, sat on committees supporting the church's sanctuary and organ, and was an active member of the Sometimers. His faith and service were important parts of his life.
Bob loved sports. He played tennis most of his life and was known locally as the “other” lefty Rod Laver. He also pitched for the church softball league.
In his later years, he found great satisfaction in wood working with his hands. From small keepsake boxes to queen-size beds still used by family today, his craftsmanship lives on. Among his many projects, he also built a Processional Cross and a Noah’s Ark for the First Presbyterian Church.
Bob and Mary Jo shared a love of travel and made many treasured trips together, including with children and grandchildren throughout their years.
Bob lived a full, faithful life and will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Sometimers of First Presbyterian Church Richardson or to a charitable organization of your choice.
